Kibbutz Neot Semadar is located in the Southern Negev desert in the Arava valley of the South of Israel, about 60 km north of Eilat. The kibbutz was established in 1989, by a group of friends interested in creating a learning community that focuses on cooperation and creativity in daily life. The economy in the kibbutz is based on agriculture, with around 400 dunams of organically cultivated vineyards, olives, date plantations and vegetable and herbs gardens.

In Neot Semadar there is an organic farm that emphasizes the ecological balance in nature.

Population: In Kibbutz Neot-Semadar there are around 200 people, 60 of them are Israeli and international volunteers.

Neot-Semadar is a very unique community; The intention of the people creates a special atmosphere that comes through  in day to day life and especially in communication between people.

Volunteers in Neot Semadar are joining the unique lifestyle of the Kibbutz .Volunteers work at a large variety of branches: Kitchen, Goat herd (milking and care taking), Organic dairy, Organic food local factory, vegetable garden, date plantation, olive plantation, local Caff’e (Pundak Neot-Semadar) and much more…

When you come to think of volunteering at Neot Semadar there are few things you should notice and take in account:

1. The minimum time for volunteering is 8 weeks.

 2.  You will find yourself working wherever is needed according to the necessity.

 3.  Neot Semadar is a quiet place in the desert. There is no city nearby, no pub, and no entertainment. (No television…)

Work starts at dawn and ends up at sunset, sometimes even later.
